The British Homes Awards

Exhibitions
5 Sep 2015–5 Jan 2016

The 2015 Sunday Times British Homes Awards invited submissions from designers for a standard house type compliant with planned Garden City developments. Discover all the entries in detail at this exhibition by The Building Centre.

The British Homes Awards have established a successful legacy in pioneering innovative solutions and technologies within the design and construction of new homes. The 2007 award winning “Green House”, built as a prototype on the BRE Innovation Park, enabled partner H+H UK to refine their aircrete system to help the building achieve zero carbon emissions. The specification of aircrete masonry was mandatory within the 2015 competition submission to demonstrate that modern, efficient, aesthetic and practical house designs are eminently feasible with masonry.

It is expected that the winning design, subject to a build feasibility study, will be evaluated as a prototype house type for high density new-build sites by one of the UK’s premier housebuilders, Redrow Homes.

The jury was chaired by Professor Robert Adam, DipArch, RIBA, FRSA, Director ADAM Architecture.

The winner of The British Home Awards Desing Competition is Arc House by McInnes Gardner.
