Visual Concrete (Concrete Centre – Elaine Toogood)
Visual concrete is once again being appreciated and used expressively by architects. Partly this is due to the wish to use the thermal mass of concrete in buildings to reduce the heating and cooling loads. The desire to optimise concrete’s benefits and express the visual aesthetic of the structure requires high quality and detailed consideration of formwork, workmanship, curing and concrete mix design. These considerations will be explained further during the session helping architects, structural engineers and other members of the team to ensure a successful outcome to their project.
Decorative Concrete (Aggregate Industries - Ian Farrar)
For those with an interest in the visual nature of concrete. This session will explore the various decorative concrete applications and options including integral coloured concrete, exposed aggregate concrete, fair-faced concrete. Plenty of examples and case studies will be on show to add some colour to designing in decorative RMX concrete to projects.
