London’s street markets are part of the city’s DNA – playing a key role in the identity of an area, and bringing social and economic benefits to consumers, residents and workers alike.
Across London some 300 markets supply goods to their communities, nurture entrepreneurs, and provide vital footfall to high streets, however many are struggling with increased competition from supermarkets and online retailers, re-location efforts, and fluid communities. How are these organs of the city evolving and what role can they play in regeneration plans?
Speakers include:
- Mark Alper, group property director at Market Tech
- Tina Jadav, senior projects officer at Greater London Authority
- Jonathan Martin, director of investment and delivery at LB Waltham Forest
- Lance Routh, director of Stiff + Trevillion
- Peter Murray, chairman of New London Architecture (Chair)
