Online talk
Tue 18 Jul 2023, 1-1.45pm
Part of RETROFIT 23

Retrofit Talks is an online series of live talks that connects professionals to discuss residential retrofit. Produced as part of Retrofit 23, this series showcases the latest research and projects in architectural practice, providing case studies and solutions for retrofit of homes. The talks feature guest speakers presenting their project followed by an interactive Q&A. Join us for these engaging sessions and gain insights into the innovative approaches to retrofitting homes.

The eighth event in the series is delivered by Rachel Pickford from Sarah Wigglesworth Architects (SWA) and focusses on ‘whole house measures’ used and explored in several of SWA’s residential retrofit pilot schemes.

SWA talk through their analysis into the existing buildings and exploring the different upgrade options available. They will share key facts and figures that were developed by building physicists which review the fabric efficiencies and enabled key project decisions to be made. We will also table key lesson and opportunities on the projects through use of key images and technical drawings show how our findings were then implemented on several projects.

The talk highlights the importance of existing building analysis to develop future-proofed homes and provide a thought-provoking overview of ‘whole house retrofit.’
