The fifth event in the series is delivered by Ben Ridley from Architecture For London.
The session is a case study presentation on Director Ben Ridley’s own home in Muswell Hill, north London - an Edwardian terrace extended and refurbished to create a comfortable, low energy house. Ben shares the learning outcomes from the project: retrofitting London's traditional housing stock; retrofitting to constrained budgets; considering both embodied energy and energy in use; insulation, airtightness and MVHR. New additions included a rear extension and a loft conversion. This project aims to be an exemplar for the sustainable refurbishment of a typical terraced home in London, with a constrained budget. Both embodied energy and energy in-use were considered in depth.
