Join us to kick-off the events programme for R25!

The Retrofit 25 Kick-off is an in-person event produced as part of our latest exhibition Retrofit 25 with the National Retrofit Hub (NRH), to be held in the galleries of the Building Centre in collaboration with our Principal Partners.

As part of a gallery late, for the first hour, at 5:30pm, attendees can visit the exhibition and participate in short guided tours with Building Centre and NRH staff. In the second hour, at 6:30pm, speakers from our principal partner companies will give presentations and introduce their take on ‘What’s stopping us?’ as the main question and driver for the Retrofit 25 exhibition.

These short presentations will offer key ideas and information in line with case studies and products in the show relating to the themes, followed by discussion with the audience.

The themes of the exhibition are:

  • Communities: Unlocking the potential for community-led retrofit to transform local relationships and buildings
  • Hearts & minds:Challenging perceptions about building and ownership types to prioritise retrofit over more wasteful alternatives
  • Jobs: Equipping workers with retrofit skills, and making the sector fit for the future
  • Carbon & materials: Considering the whole life cycle of retrofit projects to prioritise carbon reduction, sustainability and resilience
  • Innovation: Harnessing new technologies, processes and data-driven solutions to accelerate and scale up retrofit
  • Money: Driving retrofit through innovative financial models and economic opportunities
  • Ethics:Transitioning to sustainable buildings via ethical practices
  • Whole value: Exploring retrofit’s wider benefits, including improved health and wellbeing

The event will be chaired by Rachael Owens, Co-Director of the National Retrofit Hub; speakers to be announced shortly.
