Timber is one of the oldest building materials in the world and, if sustainably grown, is an endlessly renewable and natural resource. It offers those who design, make and build with it countless benefits including material flexibility and innovation. For those who live, work or play in a timber building it brings greater health and wellbeing. However as a material, it can still be misunderstood.
The ‘Re-imagining Timber’ symposium explored pioneering research and development into the manufacture and use of timber through award-winning project case studies.
The symposium was an informative afternoon with inspirational talks from renowned makers, academics and architects including;
– Amin Taha, Groupwork
– Alison Brooks, Alison Brooks Architects
– Alex de Rijke, dRMM
– David Venables, American Hardwood Export Council
– Professor Pekka Heikkinen, Wood Program Aalto University
– Johannes Rebhahn, Wiehag
