The theme “Outside the Ivory Tower” was inspired by Western term Ivory Tower—which originally referred to the elegant neck of a lady, then later was specifically referred to as the pure and elitist higher education circle. The meaning has been adopted by various languages around the world and is used to this day. We have been witnessing, in recent decades, that Chinese educational institutions have innovatively marched outside the “Ivory Tower” and embraced the integrated development of industry-university-research with Chinese characteristics - which will be exhibited at The Building Centre this month.
