Does your family have a street corner, bench, or lamppost with a special memory? What about a blocked drain where a fun puddle forms when it rains? Or that tree where somebody’s balloon got stuck? These are personal landmarks, based on memories and experiences shared with our families and friends. Alongside our personal landmarks are established landmarks these are places familiar to most of us i.e. Big Ben, London Eye, Tower Bridge, etc.
This is a creative workshop looking at the spaces around us. We will explore personal and established landmarks, starting with a short walk around the Building Centre sketching what we see around us. Once back inside we will turn our 2D landmarks into 3D models.
This session is suitable for families with children aged 6 and over, younger siblings welcome, but please note activities are not targeted at this age. No previous experience of sketching or model making is required, this is something we will learn together.
The workshop is linked to our exhibition based on a project we have done with primary school across London looking at their local area.
