The Building Centre will be host to the exhibition of entries in The Young Structural Engineers´ International Design Competition 2008. The competition required the design of an Olympic stadium with a legacy use of both the stadium and the site on which it is to be built. The legacy facility is to be useful and economically viable over the projected structural life of fifty years. The stadium is to be a landmark prestige structure worthy of the Olympic Games and is to be representative of the city and country in which it is built.
The Institution of Structural Engineers´ Educational Trust was established in 1991 "to promote excellence in structural engineering". It is aimed primarily at encouraging young people to enter the profession, with its principal activities falling broadly into three categories: the award of educational scholarships & travel grants, the arrangement of competitions and award of medals & prizes, and the production of teaching materials for schools.
