Industrialised Retrofit for High-quality Social Rent Homes

Event video
Thu 21 Nov 2024, 1-2pm

Energiesprong is a pioneering outcome-led retrofit approach that focuses on creating comfortable, affordable and desirable homes that meet their net-zero performance targets.

With clear asset management programmes and large volumes of similar housing types, social housing was chosen as the launch market due to its suitability for industrialised retrofit - and the need to radically improve the energy-efficiency and desirability of many of these homes.

Hear from Energiesprong UK, Studio Partington and Melius Homes, the organisations behind the deep retrofits of 144 social rent properties with offsite manufactured wall panels for Nottingham City Council, as they explore:

  • What’s different about the outcome-led Energiesprong model, with its focus on comfort, performance, kerb appeal and minimising disruption for tenants
  • How its holistic design approach considers existing homes and residents, modelling different scenarios to find the ‘sweet spot’ for achieving targets and maximising comfort
  • Why MMC is key and what’s been learned along the way – including insights into the importance of maximising collaboration and local skills
  • The ins and outs of guaranteeing performance and the importance of monitoring for validation and iterative learning.

Speakers

  • Suzanne Davenport (Studio Partington)
  • Robert Lambe (Melius Homes)
  • Jon Warren (Energiesprong)

Hosted by the Building Centre's Head of Partnerships and Programmes, Laura Broderick.
