At the Conservative Party Conference at the start of October, Communities Secretary Sajid Javid announced a package of measures and a £20bn Housing Budget for the next five years to speed up the delivery of housebuilding.
While the industry waits for the Government’s White Paper to give more detail, due out later this year, this NLA half-day conference will examine what these announcements might mean for housing delivery in London. Senior policy makers, developers, boroughs and their consultants will look at key themes in the new suite of measures including enabling small developers to do more, addressing custom build, unlocking public sector land, PRS, off-site manufacture, densifying town centres and releasing ‘land banks’ and discuss what can be done on these in the capital.
What new methods of housing delivery and development should we be considering and using to deliver the right kind of homes? What is the latest thinking on affordability and what has happened to Sadiq Khan’s ‘Homes for Londoners’ panel? What is being done on viability and how should this be managed in a post-Brexit environment where housebuilders and developers are potentially more risk-averse?
