How did designing the Olympic Park influence landscape practice?

Talk
Thu 22 Jan 2015

The Olympic Park changed the public perception of landscape architecture. One of the most successful legacies of the park was groundbreaking design that created a place for the Olympics but also a place for the community. Legacy also goes further than the Park, as the influence on a whole range of landscape projects has been significant. Leading practitioners explain what they did next and the impact of the Olympics on their work.

Confirmed speakers include:

- Phil Askew of London Legacy Development Corporation

- Tom Armour of Arup

- Jennette Emery-Wallis LUC

- Andrew Harland of LDA Design

- Tim Heading of Atkins

Chaired by: Lewis Blackwell of The Building Centre and Paul Lincoln of the Landscape Institute.

Followed by Q&A and drinks reception.

This is the first in a series of events that illustrate and expand on the themes of Rethinking the Urban Landscape, an exhibition curated by The Building Centre and the Landscape Institute. Each event asks a question that addresses future learning and thinking for the design profession. Speakers include landscape architects, policymakers, community activists and industry leaders.
