The Building Centre would like to invite families to join us on the 3rd of April for a day of making! We will have three workshops to do with the built enviornment, and our new exhibition Homegrown: Building a Post Carbon Future. From 12-4, get hands on with clay, glass, and innovative building materials. This event is recommended for children over the age of 5.
Session 1: Making Cob
Learn how this ancient building material is made, from start to finish, with Ceramicist Astrid Walker
Session 2: Building the Future
What would your sustainable house look like? Join us for an interactive workshop with Jane Plowright, using the materials on display to imagine new ways of building!
Session 3: Building Stronger
Work with us to experiment in creating structures from recycled card - how strong can we make paper? How can we creatively reuse our waste?
Session 1 will run at 12pm and 2pm and Session 3 at 1pm and 3pm.
There is a capacity of 15 children with one accompanying adult for each session - make sure to arrive on time to avoid disappointment!
Session 2 will be an ongoing drop-in workshop!
