For this evening lecture Julia Barfield MBE FSA of Marks Barfield will be sharing the architectural practice's insights into their new and zero emissions Cambridge Central Mosque.
The Cambridge Central Mosque was conceived as a British mosque for the 21st century. One that is truly inclusive, nondenominational, sustainable, and respectful of the neighbourhood. Marks Barfield designed the mosque with a minimal carbon footprint, and zero emissions on site. The defining feature is the expressed timber structure, which is inspired by elements from both Islamic and English religious architectural traditions, in particular English fan vaulting and sacred Islamic geometry.
The talk will begin at 6.30pm and will be followed by an audience Q&A before concluding at 8pm.
The event is free but booking is essential.
