Gijs Rikken, associate at MVRDV, Rotterdam will present his innovative ideas on designing and building with glass. Rikken will draw from key MVRDV projects including Glass Farm and Crystal Houses - a project that uses glass bricks that are stronger than concrete when assembled with a new high-strength, UV-bonded, transparent adhesive.
Rikken directs the design processes at MVRDV, also being responsible for the planning and communication within multidisciplinary environments and has led innovative projects exploring the use of glass including the Sky Vault Penthouse. He is currently working on Ravel Plaza, a 75,000m2 mixed-use building in Amsterdam. Rikken’s portfolio ranges from detailed material research to large scaled, complex building solutions and urban plans.
