Blogging for Professionals Workshop

Training
Wed 14 May 2014

A one-day workshop devised especially for construction professionals who want to learn how to blog consistently and effectively.

The workshop is particularly suitable for professionals with expertise to share who need to learn how to blog as part of a wider social media strategy.

You will learn how to write and publish blog posts, not about the technical aspects of creating a blog site, but the key elements for a good blog and options for publishing are introduced. If you need help setting up a blog on your website let us know.

Why Blogging? Why this workshop?

Blogging is a key tool for any strategic use of social media. It enables you to create regular new content on your website, which is essential to be found by search, and it gives your company a human face online.

In construction, professionals seek advice from people they know and trust, and trust is built through individuals over time. Blogging can enable your organisation to build a trust relationship with a much wider audience than you could ever contact face to face, and it will help you demonstrate your expertise in your chosen niche online at all times.

But blogging isn’t a skill you can take out of the box, and it takes time and the right choices to develop as a blogger.

This workshop sets out the key steps individual construction professionals need to take to begin and sustain a regular blog targeted at their particular audience. Delivered by Su Butcher, social strategist in construction, the workshop is specifically tailored to how construction professionals work.

By attending the Just Practising Blogging workshop you will be able to:

  • Understand how Blogging differs from other forms of content generation.
  • Identify the key elements of a successful blog and their benefits;
  • Identify whom your audience is and how to write for them.
  • Generate ideas for themes, topics and posts and develop them into a content plan.
  • Begin blogging properly using a personalized framework developed during the afternoon.
  • Choose a range of blog types suitable for different content and opportunities
  • Know how to manage comments, spam and trolls
  • Identify key tools to help share and promote your blog and join the community of bloggers in your sphere.
  • Measure your success in blogging and demonstrate its value to your business.

“Su has a great way of explaining how Social Media works in laymen's terms, how it all fits together - and how to get real results. Victoria O'Farrell MBIFM, VOF Consultancy
