The tilo® Outdoor range of thermo wood cladding is based on the use of the highest quality native European woods combined with THERMO and NATWOOD treatments for maximum durability (Class 1 durability according to EN350-1, expected lifespan >25 years ). tilo has made a conscious decision not to use tropical timber and only use indigenous, sustainable timbers such as ash and fir, in line with the company's longstanding commitment to sustainability and environmental protection.
Tilo cladding is designed for maximum practicality. The rhombus profile and THERMO treatment ensure perfect weather resistance. Installation with tilo concealed fixings maintains the optimum air space between cladding and substructure. The cladding is factory oiled on the exterior face, further saving installation time, and can easily be maintained with tilo maintenance oil.
Additionally, the tilo Outdoor range includes timber decking in the same timbers, making it possible to specify matching decking and cladding.

Greater durability, naturally
tilo applies two independent processes which give wood the very greatest durability outdoors. Both are natural processes , avoiding the use of harmful chemicals. The processes can be used separately and in combination and provide natural surface and deep-penetrating protection.
Benefits of THERMO heat treatment:
• Durability class 1(acc. to EN 350-1)
• High form and dimensional stability (significantly less swelling and shrinking; very little warping)
• Attractive colour (that does not darken)
Added benefits of Natwood® treatment:
• Great surface toughness, no splitting or indentations
• Improved UV and weather resistance
• Maximizes resistance to fungi and insects
• Light pores (which emphasises the natural grain)
THERMO - heat treatment
During thermal treatment, the wood is exposed to high temperatures up to 200°C for a set period of time. This considerably increases the wood‘s resistance to certain types of fungi and wood parasites. The wood develops an attractive dark colour, which can vary from reddish-brown to black, depending on the intensity of the treatment. In terms of aesthetics, this effect places tilo Outdoor products on a par with exclusive tropical woods.
IMPORTANT: tilo Outdoor THERMO wood products are not suitable for structural use.
Natwood® - resin loading
The patented Natwood® process involves three steps: Heating, loading, cooling. The molten Natwood® (which includes natural tree resin) is introduced into the wood under high pressure. During the complex "deep amber treatment", the cell walls are coated in a water-repellent protective layer. Finally, the wood is carefully cooled in the cooling chamber. This causes the resin to become extremely robust and durable, like amber.
Natwood® timber can also be supplied in custom dimensions and profiles, and is already used for doors and windows, exterior shutters and outdoor furniture. Contact Devida to find out more.
