Crystallised glass is a relative newcomer to the UK architectural scene but this exciting contemporary material with its high gloss finish is attracting the attention of many specifiers involved with high end external envelopes and interior design schemes.
Gleaming white crystallised glass is suitable for precision undercut drilling and anchorage which means that slabs can be prefabricated for installation as part of a SureClad ventilated façade system. Depending on the panel format required, Shackerley’s SureClad Access system or SureClad Hang On system can be used.
The white crystallised glass supplied by Shackerley is called Neopariés, and is manufactured by the internationally renowned Japanese specialist glass manufacturing group, NEG Nippon Electric Glass, using an advanced and closely guarded process. The resulting material comprises needle-shaped micro-crystals that deliver a marble-like appearance with soft and subtle reflections.
Visually appealing, harder and more impervious than natural stone, and with a high degree of resistance to acids, alkalis and graffiti, crystallised glass is an excellent cladding option for high end projects. Panels will not weather over time. Façade panels of just 15mm thick can be used in external cladding applications.
