Classic is Sky-Frame’s basic system. The sliding windows comprise insulating glass units with perimeter sections made from aluminium or glass-fibre-reinforced plastic (GRP). Mounted in aluminium frames that are fitted flush with floor and ceiling, the sliding units offer minimum rolling resistance when operated. The rectilinear Classic window system evokes timeless appeal. True to the Bauhaus vision, the ceiling-high glass facades help to create a minimalist architecture in which the view takes centre stage.
Sky-Frame 2: The excellent sound and thermal control standards met by the Sky-Frame 2 technology have made it the most popular Sky-Frame solution. The slim (only 30 millimetres thick) double-glazed insulating glass assembly has proved to be an outstanding performer in a wide range of climate zones.
63m2 of Sky-Frame 2 have been installed at the RIBA Stirling Prize-shortlisted Maggie's Lanarkshire, by Sky-Frame partner Gray & Dick Ltd, all double glazed and achieving 1.1 w/m2K u value. They were installed together with a fixed glazed system to achieve the full-height glass walls to both gables of the building as well as the four inner courtyards within the building plan shape.
