Schlüter Underfloor Heating Systems
Underfloor heating is becoming an increasingly popular feature to specify, particularly in high-end projects. Schlüter-Systems carries easy-to-install electric and hydronic underfloor heating systems, including versions suitable for retro-fitting.
What is it?
Schlüter®-DITRA-HEAT-E is the award-winning electric underfloor heating system that leaves conventional systems out in the cold. It is quick to install and warm up, and offers the perfect all-in-one integrated solution for use under tile and natural stone floor coverings.
Why use it?
Quick & easy installation
Saves 70% of installation time, with no self-levelling or primer layer needed. Uniform spacing is provided by the unique studded mat, which eliminates the need for marking or measurement and the cable is simply pressed into position, with no need for glue or tape. The assembly can be tiled upon immediately and as part of the DITRA range the system is even suitable for use over problematic substrates.
Design Flexibility
The loose heating cable allows optimum freedom in terms of layout, allowing you to heat the exact areas you desire for the creation of concentrated heating zones.
Low assembly height
With an assembly height of just 5.5mm, the system is ideal for use in refurbishments and renovations as well as new-build projects
Integrated thermal break and sound reduction of 13dB
The system can be specified with standard DITRA-HEAT or new DITRA-HEAT-DUO matting. The latter has a fleece layer laminated to the underside, which offers an integrated thermal break and sound reduction of up to 13dB. Sound reduction of 13dB is perceived as a 50% reduction by the human ear and the thermal break ensures that 80% of the heat input is pushed to the surface (whereas other systems lose up to half of their heat into the screed or subfloor).
Bonded waterproofing
The system can be easily waterproofed, by sealing the matting joints with Schlüter®-KERDI-KEBA sealing band and Schlüter®-KERDI-COLL sealing adhesive.
Kit availability
Schlüter®-DITRA-HEAT-E is now also available in complete box sets to accommodate all common UK room sizes for which electric underfloor heating is used. The sets contain everything needed for optimal underfloor heating provision, including a thermostat, uncoupling mat and heating cable.
What is it?
Schlüter®-BEKOTEC-THERM is an advanced hydronic underfloor heating system that provides an economical in-screed heating solution, based on a modular screed system. It is quick to install, highly durable and has a remarkably low assembly height.
Why use it?
Low assembly height
The Schlüter®-BEKOTEC-THERM system can be installed with heights starting at just 31mm, making hydronic underfloor heating viable for refurbishment and renovation projects.
Energy efficiency
The dramatically reduced amount of screed required means that Schlüter®-BEKOTEC-THERM operates effectively on a supply temperature of only 30°C, versus the 50-55°C required in some traditional systems. This, along with night-control settings, saves energy and reduces heating bills for the end user. The system can be used with both conventional and renewable energy sources such as heat pumps and solar panels.
No screed joints required
The system makes use of the Schlüter®-BEKOTEC modular screed system, which creates continuous screed surfaces without the need for screed movement joints or reinforcement. Schlüter®-BEKOTEC is thin, will not buckle and does not develop tensions, making for an excellent foundation.
Quick heat up
With 30% less screed than traditional systems, the system warms up quicker.
Complete assembly warranty
In addition to all the above, Schlüter®-BEKOTEC-THERM has a five-year assembly warranty, that covers the whole system rather than just individual components. This gives additional reassurance to customers as to the safety and reliability of the system.
Design service
The Technical Department of Schlüter-Systems offers a full design service for the Schlüter®-BEKOTEC-THERM system to help you achieve the most effective use of the system.
RIBA-Approved CPD Seminars
Underfloor heating systems can be explored and explained in detail by signing up to Schlüter’s RIBA-accredited CPD seminar ‘Modular Underfloor Heating Systems for Ceramic Tiled Floors’.
The seminar, lasting 45-60 minutes, discusses both of Schlüter’s innovative underfloor heating systems—DITRA-HEAT-E and BEKOTEC-THERM—and will explain how these systems help to protect tile and stone floor coverings, as well as exploring the theory behind modular screed systems.
Run during lunch breaks from any business premises requested, the training events will include a 15-minute Q&A session and participants will receive a certificate upon completion. Anyone interested can book by emailing training@schluter.co.uk or calling 01530 813396.
