Precast Concrete Channels

JP Concrete Products Ltd

Precast concrete channels can be used for a variety of applications including, below ground cable troughs, ducting, pipe protection & water channels. They are manufactured with a smooth mould finish, which allows slurry and other liquids to flow freely. The units interlock to ensure prefect alignment and are easily sealed. Installation of the precast units is exceptionally fast, they are placed directly onto a prepared foundation, no additional fixing is required.

The type of foundation will depend on the ground bearing capacity and any loads that may be applied to the channel from plant. When designing the foundation for liquids, a gradient should be included to allow it to flow along the channel. Internal joints can be sealed with mastic to achieve a watertight seal between units. You can choose between slatted or solid covers and have the option for the covers to be capable of taking vehicle loads.

Wall units are manufactured under factory control, have been designed to relevant British (BS) standards and are CE marked.

Below is a table outlining the characteristics of the precast concrete channels. Here you can find information on concrete strength and connection type. If you require any further details please contact us and one of our product experts will be happy to provide more information.

Concrete Strength - C40
Compressive strength of concrete after 28 days of curing.
Connection
Precast elements interlock with tongue and groove edges.
Edge Detail
Chamfered edges create softer sight lines & reduce damage during installation.
Concrete Finish - A
Smooth mould finish Type A to precast element, defined in British Standards.
Reinforcement Cover - 30
Minimum cover to steel reinforcement in precast element, measured in mm.
Tolerances - 6
Typical manufacturing tolerances & dimensional variations +/- in mm.
Foundation Type - T1
A Type1 foundation can be used, if ground bearing capacity allows.
Retained Face - DL
Double Load - Precast element is suitable for retaining material on both faces.
