An extensive substrate system requires a greater depth of growing medium providing an extended choice of suitable plants for the client. It can also provide a cost effective solution for larger roofs. Manually planting sedum or plants grown in plug format into the substrate gives the client a greater choice of plant species and the opportunity to plan the layout.
Vegetation will generally be provided through plug planting, vegetation mat or seeding. Selected species can be chosen to suit the project and location.
