Icynene Inc., world leader in breatheable water expanded soft foam insulation, was founded in Canada in 1986. The company is one of the pioneers of The Green Building movement and is based on sound building science. Today, Icynene’s products are available in 34 countries worldwide including the UK.

Icynene’s soft spray foam insulation provides air leakage control, insulation and acoustic benefits in one. It saves high amounts of energy and can produce air leakage results equal or better than the Passiv Haus standard. The product is widely used for energy efficient construction in both new construction and retrofit of existing and “hard to treat” buildings as well as in carbon neutral structures. The product conforms to unusual geometry and seals cracks and penetrations which rob energy from buildings. Icynene’s soft foam can move with the thermal expansion and contraction of a building without delaminating and it provides control of condensation and does not support the growth of mould.

Icynene is a member of the UKGBC and offers RIBA talks for CPD. The soft foam has a BBA Certificate and European Technical Approval and CE mark as well as approvals from many countries around the world including Russia, China and the Middle East as well as North America. Icynene began doing residential work which is still a major focus including Code For Sustainable Homes Category 4, 5 or 6 houses, but today, the product is widely used in educational buildings, laboratories, hospital and nursing homes, museums, libraries and art galleries and factory buildings of all types.
