Victorian New Build Town House

3 Jul 2012
Case study

Beautiful period-style timber windows and doors from the Mumford & Wood Conservation™ collection have been specified for a luxurious new build home in a private residential road in Weybridge, Surrey.  Designed in the Victorian-style of a London town house, this inspiring property by design and build developer Fraser James Associates of East Molsey, Surrey, has been built with expert precision, traditional craftsmanship and exceptional attention to detail.

Arranged across three floors the substantial lower ground floor basement leads directly out onto the sunken garden terraces.  To the rear façade, Conservation™ bi-fold and sliding doors provide maximum light and space and stunning views of the mature south-westerly facing gardens.  A selection of opening configurations are available with Conservation™ bi-folds, the latest addition to the award-winning range, allowing maximum flexibility from two to seven leaf (2600mm high x 5700mm wide max) apertures.

Throughout the property, double glazed Victorian Conservation™ sash windows and semi-circular sliders have been used.  Offering BSI energy ratings from ‘A – C’, depending on specification, these high performance products provide a whole frame U-value of 1.4 w/m²K resulting in ultimate levels of comfort, reduced energy consumption and lower CO₂ emissions.  Enhanced hardware and locking systems offer excellent levels of safety and security to meet Secured by Design accreditation, the UK Police flagship initiative which aims to design-out crime.

Typical of the period, the bespoke Mumford & Wood Conservation™ period entrance door has fixed glazed side panels and attractive fan light and exceeds today’s thermal and security standards.  Constructed using traditional methods with raised and fielded panels and mortice and tenon joints for maximum strength and durability, every made-to-measure door is a substantial 57mm thick and hung with a 68mm frame.

Part L Building Regulations’ compliant, Mumford & Wood Conservation™ products are manufactured and factory-finished in Essex from knot-free engineered timber as standard, which will not warp, stick or twist,  contributing to substantially improved maintenance cycles.  A range of traditional and contemporary style conservatories, orangeries and garden rooms is also available and achieves a coordinated and seamless addition to any home.
