Armacell, global specialist in high performance insulation foams, has announced that BIM (Building Information Modelling) objects of Armaflex product ranges are now free to download from the NBS National BIM library.
The announcement makes Armacell the first flexible insulation manufacturer to have BIM objects available in the UK.
BIM objects listed in the library include tube and sheet range products suitable for the leading Revit Building Design software and in IFC format.
With buildings consuming around 40 percent of the UK’s energy, making BIM objects available to specifiers means that Armacell is helping them achieve greater energy efficiency.
Specifiers will now be able to use the BIM objects to create realistic, intelligent 3D models of a building to capture, explore and analyse data associated with heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) within the overall design model.
The information in these models remains consistent and available to everyone involved in the project and will ultimately result in more informed decision making around the specification of high performance flexible insulation to reduce energy consumption.

The full list of products available from the NBS National BIM library includes; AF/Armaflex Class O, Armaflex Ultima low smoke insulation, Armaflex Tuffcoat for mechanical protection and HT/Armaflex high temperature insulation for process applications.
