A Megaflo unvented water heating system from Heatrae Sadia has helped revitalise a historic local football club in the South West by providing plentiful supplies of hot water for the team.

Shipham AFC in Somerset was established in 1896, but was forced to close 15 years ago, with the old changing facilities and grounds falling into disrepair.

The decision to bring the football club back to life was taken at the same time a new village hall was commissioned and a team of hardworking volunteers was formed to secure the necessary funding, plus goodwill product and equipment donations.

When Heatrae Sadia heard about the project, the company donated the Megaflo model DD300HE to provide hot water for the changing rooms and shower facilities for the club.

Stephen Dodd, of Shipham AFC, said: "These days it is vitally important for any sports club to have a high standard of changing rooms and shower facilities for the home team and visitors. On match days we need plenty of hot water generated in a short space of time ready for when both squads come off the pitch and the Megaflo easily produces all the hot water we require.

"Our changing rooms are widely recognised by visiting teams to be one of the best in the region. So much so, they are now up to FA standard which is enabling us to have FA league matches at our ground.”

The new Shipham AFC began with an over 35s team playing in the Bristol Casuals League, but the club has continued to go from strength to strength and plans to have three teams playing in different leagues for the 2010/2011 season.

Jon Cockburn, head of marketing for Heatrae Sadia, added: "The promotion of football and all kinds of sports at grass roots level is vitally important for the local community and development of young players. We are delighted to have been involved in the revitalisation of Shipham AFC and wish the club the best of luck for the future.”
