Decorative safety flooring from market-leading commercial vinyl flooring manufacturer Polyflor was recently installed at the new home of Ysgol Dafydd Llwyd, a Welsh language primary school in Newtown, Wales.
Flooring from the Polysafe Wood fx PUR and Polysafe Vogue Ultra PUR ranges was fitted by Cardiff-based flooring contractors Puma Floors to the £8 million new build project managed by main contractors Willmott Dixon Construction and funded by Powys County Council and the Welsh Government. Polyflor’s high performance flooring was selected to meet the demands of Ysgol Dafydd Llwyd’s modern, new school building which can accommodate up to 300 pupils.
Polysafe Vogue Ultra PUR safety flooring in Woodland Grey was installed in the school’s classrooms and toilet areas. Polysafe Vogue Ultra is a high durability safety floor with a multi-chip design which, like all Polysafe flooring ranges, features safety particles through its performance layer to provide increased traction underfoot, ensuring sustainable wet slip resistance throughout the guaranteed lifetime of the product.
High clarity timber effect Polysafe Wood fx PUR safety flooring in the Classic Oak shade was fitted in the school hall and conference room. Ideally suited to the demands of high traffic school environments, the Wood fx collection features 10 authentic wood effect designs with virtually invisible slip resistance. Like many Polysafe ranges, Wood fx is enhanced by the exclusive Polysafe PUR polyurethane reinforcement for superior cleaning benefits and optimum appearance levels.
Sian Davies, Headteacher at Ysgol Dafydd Llwyd commented, “Our brand new facility has given our school community and the local area a real boost. Our vision has become a reality with this wonderful new building which has been designed to very high energy-saving standards.”
Like all Polysafe ranges, the Wood fx and Vogue Ultra ranges are fully fledged safety floors offering sustainable slip resistance, achieving 36+ on the Pendulum Wet Test with full conformance to HSE Guidelines and the particle based safety flooring standard EN 13845. These two UK manufactured ranges also pass the 50,000 cycles abrasion test demonstrating the sustainability of slip resistant particles in the product.
Polyflor’s safety flooring used in this project contains recycled material and is 100% recyclable via the Recofloor vinyl take back scheme. The sustainability credentials of Polyflor’s flooring are supported with the award of BES 6001 for responsible sourcing and certificated BRE Global A+ ratings for the Wood fx and Vogue Ultra ranges amongst others, which helped contribute to the BREEAM credits earned during the Ysgol Dafydd Llwyd development. This resulted in an overall Excellent rating for the project, the highest level of environmental performancea building can be awarded.
