This beautiful countryside property in a quaint Cotswolds village is the result of a large renovation and extension project, courtesy of homeowners, Mr & Mrs Dover-Smith. “We purchased the house a few years ago with renovation in mind and planned a new extension that doubled the footprint of the property” Mr Dover-Smith comments.
Some parts of the home are over 300 years old and the previous homeowners had extended it before, back in the 1980s.
For the new extension, an architect was brought on board to help design the various new aspects of the home. “Originally, the windows in place were single glazed and were badly rotting. Once the renovation works started, there was no saving them and with the scale of works being undertaken, the project warranted their renewal”.
The homeowners took the lead on this project and so, when it was time to specify the supplier of their new windows and doors, they reached out to some friends who had recently had theirs replaced. Both their friends and the architect for the project recommended Mumford & Wood.
“Following this, we visited a number of window companies to compare products, but none compared to Mumford & Wood when it came to the quality and finish of the products that we wanted. We were very happy to go with Mumford & Wood following this” Mr Dover-Smith explains.
The new flush casement windows, entrance doors, French doors and bi-fold doors are dual coloured, with colours complementary to Farrow & Ball’s ‘Manor House Grey’ externally and ‘Wevet’ internally. This colour palette works perfectly alongside the traditional Cotswold stone façade.
Alongside it’s primary purpose as a family home, the couple have turned the beauty of the newly renovated house into a commercial venture; the style and finish proving particularly popular with a number of companies that have hired the property for their own photoshoots, as well as being used for high profile, culinary based TV filming work and is available as a private holiday rental too.
“We have been very happy with Mumford & Wood all the way through to after care. Everything turned up on time as per the schedule, ensuring that none of our work was delayed”.
