The water-saving benefits of ACO Water Management’s new ACO Rain-Ceptor™ rainwater harvesting tanks have been recognised by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) with their inclusion on the latest ‘Water Technology List’. This approved list of products meets Defra’s criteria for water efficiency and allows any business now buying a Rain-Ceptor tank to offset 100% of the cost against taxable profit in the year of purchase.
The up-front tax relief on capital cost is designed to promote investment in technologies that promote the efficient use of water and ultimately support the environment. In addition to rainwater harvesting systems, the list covers products such as water efficient taps, toilets and cleaning equipment.
“In developing the Rain-Ceptor system we looked to minimise the environmental impact of every aspect of its design, installation and operation. The tanks have a small footprint which reduces excavation, they are lightweight yet robust making them easier to transport and handle, and they are equipped with filters and monitoring systems that ensure they maintain optimum, energy efficient performance whatever the rainfall conditions,” says Simon Shepherd, Product Manager at ACO Water Management. “Rain-Ceptor’s addition to the Water Technology List underlines the benefits of these advances.”
The Rain-Ceptor™ range consists of 24 tanks providing between 1380 and 4120 litre storage capacity. Able to be configured for Direct Feed or Irrigation use, each complies with BS 8515:2009 Rainwater harvesting systems - Code of practice. The range also helps meet the requirements of the revised Building Regulations Part G.
Direct Feed ACO Rain-Ceptors feature a pumped feed for connection to domestic appliances where non-potable water can be used – for instance toilets and washing machines. All tank assemblies come complete with a mains top-up connection to ensure ‘on-demand’ supply and can be equipped to overflow to either a suitable soakaway such as ACO SoakAway™ or to a main sewer via an anti-surcharge valve.
The Irrigation ACO Rain Ceptor™ is configured for external applications such as car washing, cleaning and garden watering. Mains top-up connection is available as an option and the overflow is designed to flow to a soakaway unit.
All tanks are fitted with an integral filter that uses ‘first flush’ principles to prevent leaves and debris entering the storage chamber. Low water level alarms are fitted as standard to all tanks with mains top-up and every ACO Rain-Ceptor™ without mains top-up is equipped with a ‘run-dry’ pump protection cut-off.
