Knauf, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of lightweight building products and systems, has achieved third party certification from the British Board of Agrément (BBA) for the Knauf Aquapanel Exterior Render System.
In achieving this certification, specifiers, architects and installers can be assured that the Knauf render system adheres to the highest quality standards in the industry. A team of technical experts from the BBA have rigorously tested, inspected and certified that the Knauf Aquapanel Exterior Render System is fit for use as a ventilated exterior wall panel system.
The full system comprises of Knauf Aquapanel Exterior Cement Boards and Knauf thin coat render system consisting of a basecoat with mesh reinforcement and a variety of top coats and paints to suit site specific requirements. The certificate applies to timber-frame buildings up to four storeys in height and steel-frame buildings up to 18 metres.
Paul Tollervey, Head of Technical at Knauf UK, said: “BBA certification is recognised throughout the UK construction industry as a symbol of quality and reassurance. This investment is a vital ingredient for Knauf UK and helps us to ensure acceptance with specifiers, building control, local authorities and insurers.
“The certificate clearly demonstrates the quality of Knauf UK’s products and systems, and Knauf’s ability to provide its clients with a third party accredited product.”
The system has been tested for its strength and stability to function as an exterior wall panel, supporting its own weight and the wind loads it is likely to experience in the inclement UK weather conditions.
It has also been shown to achieve a class A1 fire rating and is regarded as a non-combustible material as defined in the national Building Regulations. This applies to the full range of coloured render finishes.
With a service life in excess of 30 years, architects and specifiers can be assured that they are getting a high-quality and long-lasting exterior wall system with the combination of Knauf products.
Knauf Aquapanel Exterior Cement Boards provide a solid, dry base that can withstand extreme UK weather conditions. The full system resists the passage of moisture from the ground and from the weather, and can be left unfinished for up to six months, sustaining conditions while building works can be completed.
