The Lighthouse Wards at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital on Guernsey are three identical buildings located adjacent to La rue de la Corbinerie. These continuing care units accommodate elderly patients with mental health problems and enable people with long term care needs to live and be cared for by professional and experienced staff 24 hours a day.
Rainwater ingress had meant that some of the 60 accommodation units had become unusable and the roof coverings were in need of replacing. NedZink NOVA, supplied by SIG Zinc & Copper, was chosen for its modern appearance and its low-maintenance credentials.
SIG approved installers, Sarnian Roofing, completed the work in a 10 month period with no disruption to the patients. The refurbishment on one of the wards was captured by time-lapse video which shows detail of the roof build-up, including timber structure, vapour barrier, fully adhered insulation, separation layer and the NedZink NOVA standing seam.
SIG Zinc& Copper has guaranteed the new roofing system for 20 years on both materials and labour.
