Parquet Block Bamboo Flooring in Open Plan Kitchen

19 May 2021
Case study

Jake and Hayley have lived in their 1930s house for seven years. They had planned for an extension to create a beautiful open plan kitchen and dining area, and needed a new floor to complement the sophisticated new room. The work started in January 2020 and continued throughout the beginning of the year. By March 2020, Jake and Hayley were researching different flooring options. They looked at solid hardwood and reclaimed wood, but finally fell in love with bamboo flooring as “it’s hard wearing, cheaper and better for the environment.”

The actual flooring that Jake and Hayley chose was Solid Carbonised Strand Woven Parquet Block Bamboo Flooring. Parquet block flooring creates beautiful geometric patterns. Jake and Hayley have chosen to create the herringbone pattern throughout their open space. It really does give a feel of sophistication and elegance in this truly stunning extension area.

Large windows and doors with the fresh white walls bring brightness into the boldly decorated and furnished space. We love the contrast of the carbonsied brown bamboo floor against the dark navy kitchen and furnishings. Jake and Hayley are “thrilled with the result and the quality. Everyone always comments about the floor.”

Strand Woven bamboo flooring is ideal for any busy areas like kitchens and living spaces. The bamboo is woven and compressed to give a hardwearing and durable floor, which is over twice as hard as Oak flooring. It is easy to look after and keep clean making it the perfect choice for this beautiful new space.

“We had no idea that you could get bamboo wooden flooring until we attended a live event in 2019. Initially we were looking to purchase solid wood flooring and wanted it throughout our kitchen and dining room but the cost including the fitting was working out too expensive. Bamboo flooring was the perfect choice - not only did it look great, with so many colours and styles to choose from, the service was fantastic and the quality is extremely high! I’ve recommended The Bamboo Flooring Company to a number of friends and family now and will continue to do so in time to come!”
