The surfacing formed part of the enhancement project and was carried out by Caveney Road Surfacing on behalf of Enterprise and Oxfordshire Highways. Lee Prudden, Operations Manager at Caveney Road Surfacing commented, “Approximately a hundred tonnes of Buff Natratex was laid as part of the refurbishment of this busy City centre shopping area. Natratex was specified as it gave the natural appearance that was best suited to fit in with the architecture of the surrounding buildings.”
Oxfordshire County Council is extremely pleased with the new surfacing which was required to replace broken and rocky concrete slabs that had previously caused a safety hazard on the footpaths. Ashley Prior, Deputy Area Engineer at Oxford County Council explained, “Natratex was chosen to replace the concrete slabs after the success of Natratex in a previous project in Farringdon. We have had a lot of positive feedback regarding the new surfacing which will improve aesthetically in time as the aggregate becomes more exposed.”
The Transform Oxford programme aims to transform the centre of Oxford's transport and pedestrian experience, consolidating the city as a world class economic centre whilst enhancing its status as an international heritage site.
Natratex uses a clear binder system and high performance natural aggregates to provide a durable, fully bonded yet natural looking surface. Bituchem provides natural and coloured hard landscaping surfaces for application in both commercial and domestic markets.
