Leviat has made installing its market-leading Ancon MDC masonry support system easier and faster, with a new sprung T-Head Bolt design that simplifies fixing and prevents the bolts from disengaging from the cast-in channel during installation.
The new spring-head design, being applied initially to 50mm long 30/20 M12 T-bolts, features a special compression spring which is permanently clinched to the bolt head to hold it firmly in place in the cast-in channel, whilst allowing sideways movement for simple horizontal adjustment.
Designed to provide more secure and reliable bolt location to aid fixing of the MDC brackets, the new integrated spring does not affect the design-resistance of the bolt or the performance of the finished system. The spring features specially designed closed and square free ends for safe on-site handling and to prevent bolts tangling in storage.
Sam Hine, Research & Development Engineer for Leviat said, “The new advanced spring-head design will be a game changer for installers, preventing the annoying delays caused by bolts disengaging or falling down the cavity during masonry support installation. A simple push-turn action is all that’s needed to precisely locate and hold bolts in position ready to accept the brackets.”
The new spring head design will gradually replace the current 30/20 M12 50mm long T-Head Bolts. The change-over process will be managed by Leviat on a project-by-project basis and is subject to availability. Existing part-supplied projects which are using T-Head Bolts for 30/20 cast-in channel will continue to receive the current 50mm M12 bolts until further notice.
It is anticipated that 90mm long 30/20 M12 T-Head Bolts will also be converted to the new spring-head design in the future, so watch this space.
