Intusteel WB is the latest addition to the Bollom Fire Protection (BFP) range of decorative intumescent coatings for the protection of structural steel. A water-based intumescent designed for specialist application, it currently offers 30 minutes and 60 minutes fire resistance as defined by BS 476 part 21. It has also been fully assessed by the Building Research Establishment as suitable for a large range of steel sizes.
"Intusteel WB is an effective yet very cost efficient coating," commented BFP Product Manager, Kevin Williams. "Compared to competitive brands, the loadings are low in terms of application rates for equivalent steel sizes. This means that, in many cases, significantly less product is needed. It is, of course, also an environmentally friendly option."
It is supplied in 25 kilo drums for use with airless spray equipment. Larger sizes are also available on request.
Where the exposed steel is part of the design, an overall decorative theme can be maintained using Flameguard gloss or eggshell top seal coats which are available in an almost unlimited range of colours. Intusteel WB is compatible with most commonly used steel primers.
Bollom Fire Protection offers a full advice and specification service including on-site technical support if required and a Certificate of Supply. The latter can be requested by the architect, main contractor, quantity surveyor or Building Control Officer.
