Kingspan help to reshape the City of London Skyline

23 May 2018
News

From Canary Wharf to Stratford and the City, Kingspan Access Floors has been involved in helping to create some of the most iconic commercial buildings across London. With the City of London Corporation recently releasing new images showing how the skyline will look by 2026, the trend of creating flexible office space incorporating access floors is set to continue.

22 Bishopsgate (TwentyTwo) and 52 Lime Street (The Scalpel) are two of the buildings that have a key part to play in the remodelled City skyline, both of which are under construction and will benefit from Kingspan Access Floors.

The 62-storey ‘TwentyTwo’ development by PLP, which is due for completion in 2019, will feature 135,000m2 of Kingspan Access Floors – one of our largest ever single installations.

Simon Orr, Commercial Director, comments: “The dynamic and future-facing nature of the project is something that echoes our philosophy to provide optimum comfort for occupants. The fact that the project will be built to exceed the IWBI™ WELL Building Standard, reinforces how today’s tenants and occupiers are increasingly more demanding when it comes to workforce health and well-being.”

The development has been designed by PLP Architects for AXA Real Estate and Lipton Rogers Developments, with Multiplex as main contractor.

Nearing completion, the 36-storey ‘Scalpel’ is currently being fitted out by our Contracting Team and will include over 36,000m2 of Kingspan Access Floors throughout the offices and enterprise data centre space. Designed by architects Kohn Pedersen Fox / TP Bennett for the WR Berkley Corporation with Skanska as the main contractor.

Simon concludes: “With a new generation of iconic buildings including TwentyTwo and The Scalpel, adding to our a portfolio that already includes the Walkie Talkie, the Heron Tower, the Gherkin and the Leadenhall Building; Kingspan Access Floors are leading the way for commercial office flooring in the City of London and beyond.”
