Keystone Highly Commended at Construction News Awards 2014

Keystone Lintels are pleased to announce that our Hi-Therm Sustainability Lintel has been highly commended for ‘Commercial Innovation of the Year’ at the Construction News Awards.

The glitzy ceremony took place at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel, following a face-to-face finalist’s interview with members of the esteemed judging panel, including senior figures from the government, contractors, consultants and major clients to discuss the Hi-Therm Lintel in more depth.

Will Botting, Events Executive for Construction News commented: “This innovation thoroughly impressed the judging panel as an example of a problem being identified, a solution being developed and its success being firmly evident. The judges praised the Keystone Group for creating ‘a practical solution to a critical issue, which has achieved very impressive take up by the industry’”.

The Hi-Therm lintel uses a unique, patented combination of glass-reinforced polymer (grp) and galvanised steel to create a lintel with thermal characteristics that outperform all others, greater corrosion resistance than stainless steel lintels, the ability to support loads equal to that of a standard or heavy duty steel lintel and removing the need for the insertion of a DPC. It is 500% more thermally efficient than a comparable steel lintel: the patented design means that, when used to support cavity wall construction, it significantly minimises thermal bridging or heat loss through the wall.

Derrick McFarland, Keystone UK Managing Director commented “the Keystone Group culture is built on innovation and the company is constantly developing new products to meet and exceed industry standards, so we are naturally delighted that our Hi-Therm Lintel has been Highly Commended in the prestigious ‘Commercial Innovation of the Year’ category”.
