This exciting development has been designed by the much-acclaimed architect Zaha Hadid. The unusual design of the building requires a flexible drainage system that can overcome the challenges of draining the geometrically complex roof design. Fullflow assisted with the design from an early stage and their experience and knowledge was extremely beneficial to this project. A Fullflow system allows for complete control over downpipe discharge locations giving increased design and programme flexibility without compromising the aesthetic appeal of the building. Collection mains can be routed horizontally throughout the building with no requirement for pipes to be fitted on a gradient. The combined gravity and syphonic rainwater drainage system will drain a total roof area of 6848m² using both H.D.P.E and stainless steel pipe. The museum has been designed to deal with a maximum rainfall intensity of 159mm/hr with a building life of 60 years.
The Riverside Museum is set to occupy the symbolic spot where the River Clyde meets the River Kelvin. The museum will create a more accessible and environmentally stable home for Glasgow’s significant Transport and Technology collections.
