Hoval’s new CHP engines enhance District Heating package

With a new range of Combined Heat & Power (CHP) engines joining its established biomass, gas and oil boilers - and its wide selection of storage vessels - Hoval now offers a complete District Heating package from a single source.

Hoval CHP KWK-EG gas-fired engines are available in 11 sizes offering outputs of 65-530kW thermal and 43-404kW electrical, with total combined efficiencies of between 84% and 90%, depending on configuration. Thanks to their high efficiency heat exchangers, hot water temperatures of up to 90°C can be generated, with a heat to power ratio of no less than 1.3:1.

“This ‘one stop shop’ approach to District Heating makes it much easier for developers, local authorities and other specifiers to take advantage of the cost-saving and environmental benefits of co-generation,” said Hoval’s Managing Director, Adrian Walker. “We would typically see the CHP being used to meet domestic hot water loads, with the electrical power generated either being used on site or exported to the grid. The winter heating load may then be met with a biomass boiler and/or gas or oil boiler. However, the inherent flexibility of the Hoval product portfolio means that all requirements can be met,” he added.

Hoval CHP engines are supplied with sound reduction housing and mounted on skids as standard. Or, if required they can be pre-installed in a pre-fabricated housing, on their own or complete with boilers and storage vessels.
