Heronrib matting, manufactured in the UK and US by Plastex, has recently been laid in several areas of a new stylish development in Hong Kong called “The Visionary”, including changing rooms, indoor and outdoor pools and shower areas.
As all these areas are characterised by the presence of water, the challenge was to find an attractive solution that was hygienic whilst offering slip resistance, drainage and barefoot comfort. They also needed to give special attention not to damage the existing decking on the rooftop and marble flooring for the interiors.
Sunwall International, Plastex’s distributor in Hong Kong, supplied the developer Nam Fung Group with 16 rolls of Heronrib to provide the required solution.
As they were already familiar with the product from other projects, they knew they would get all the benefits required as well as considerable time savings thanks to its simple and quick installation.
Heronrib is open grid and non-porous, allowing it to dissipate water easily thanks to a two layer open grid construction with channelled underbars.
Made from PVC, it can be simply cut on site around obstacles and it features a ribbed surface with a “C” Classification for slip resistance under DIN51097 which is also comfortable for barefeet. Finally, permanent hygiene is ensured by Steritouch© anti-fungal and anti-microbial additives.
Heronrib is supplied in 50, 100 and 122cm widths and 10m lengths in the following colours: Oxford Blue, Ocean Blue, Charcoal Grey, Forest Green and Mulberry Red. Other colours may be available on request.
