Grantley Hall, the first five-star hotel in North Yorkshire, has chosen an extensive water source heat pump system from Stiebel Eltron to provide renewable energy across its estate as part of a £70m restoration project.
The Grade II* listed property, which is located in a conservation area, required a renewable system which had no visual impact on the building or surrounding area, while providing reliable hot water to the hotel’s 47 guest bedrooms and hotel kitchens.
Stiebel Eltron’s internet service gateway system offers the ability for maintenance teams to monitor the installation remotely, meaning any problems can be proactively prevented before they impact the day to day running of the hotel.
The 520kW heat pump system installed by Pure Renewables is fed by a subterranean aquifier situated 90m below the surface. This approach means that there are no visible flues required, minimising the visual impact on the property, while providing a constant supply of 14-degree source temperature water.
The new installation is a fundamental part of Grantley Hall Hotel’s sustainable ambitions. With the renewable system supplying 12,500ltr of hot water capacity for the hotel and heating through an extensive underfloor heating and radiator network.
The selection also follows Stiebel Eltron’s heat pump systems being installed at a range of heritage buildings including Welham Hall in Malton and Plas Newydd, a National Trust site in Anglesey.
