GEZE Turns Heads at International Award Ceremony

6 Jun 2014
News

An automatic swing door drive from GEZE has received international recognition for its innovative design at one of the interior industry’s most prestigious award ceremonies.

The ECturn Inside, which was developed by GEZE UK’s parent company GEZE GmbH for the global market, was declared an Interior Innovation Award Winner 2014 by the German Design Council and imm cologne.

Now in their 11th year, the awards seek to recognise design innovation throughout the whole interiors and furnishing industry. As a result, inclusion in the winner’s list has become a much sought after mark of quality amongst manufacturers and designers alike.

The automatic ECturn Inside offers a solution to the accessibility issue, without compromising the design of the door.  It has been designed specifically to make life easier, particularly for those people with mobility problems or little strength. It can be used for both automatic and manual opening in addition to automatic closing in accordance with DIN 18650.

Suitable for internal doors with leaf widths up to 1100mm and up to 125kg, the drive is just 60mm high and deep with a width of 580mm, meaning it can be integrated into the door leaf or door frame making it almost invisible. It is suitable for use with both wood and metal doors and frames and can be easily retrofitted into existing buildings.  As with all GEZE products, it has been built to the highest quality standards and meets stringent safety requirements.

It can be used with a wide variety of control options and in combination with access control and building management systems. Additional safety sensors can be connected simply and quickly, so it can be tailored to meet the needs of a wide variety of users, from disabled people to small children.

Andy Howland, sales director of GEZE UK said: “We were delighted to hear that the ECturn Inside has been declared winner at the Interior Innovation Awards. At GEZE UK we firmly believe that function doesn’t mean you need to compromise on style, something that the ECturn Inside demonstrates perfectly.

“The ECturn Inside is already a firm favourite with our customers who need to provide accessible doors that complements their design and I believe that this award will only increase its popularity.”

GEZE UK’s ECturn is ideal for sheltered housing, hospitals, schools, residential and care homes, hotel rooms, restaurants and leisure facilities. It can also be used within the home. To save energy, the ECturn offers a low energy setting as well as automatic and to make it even easier for users, it has three operating modes; automatic, permanently open and night. An optional battery is available in the event of power failure.
