Faros Engineering joins ABB’s strategic energy partner network to deliver energy monitoring for all types of building

News
Faros Engineering has joined ABB’s strategic energy partner network and is utilising ABB energy meters in its installations to provide secondary metering in multiple-tenant locations. The energy meters offer users the ability to measure their electricity consumption accurately at regular intervals, helping to identify trends so users can take steps to reduce energy consumption.

Located in Poulton le Fylde, Lancashire, Faros is a specialist energy management company with over 10 years’ experience of dealing with high profile, blue chip companies nationwide. The company provides energy monitoring, reporting and management services, helping its customers to lower their energy costs through improved energy management.

Spiralling energy prices and government-backed initiatives such as the Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) energy efficiency scheme, have led to an increased demand for energy management and monitoring equipment. With energy costs becoming an ever expanding problem for all businesses, the key to reducing cost is being able to measure energy use, identify trends and make changes to consumption. However, not all energy meters are suitable for this purpose.

Sub-meters must satisfy MID (Measuring Instruments Directive) requirements for use in secondary billing. ABB is currently one of the few manufacturers to produce off the shelf energy meters certified to annex B + D across their range which fulfils this requirement.

“There’s a high level of uncertainty concerning current legislation and the correct level of MID (Measuring Instruments Directive) certification required for tenant billing,” says Paul Friday, xxx Faros Engineering Ltd. “ ABB is one of the very few companies on the market to provide off-the-shelf MID certified meters that comply with our stringent requirements.”

“All ABB energy meters are MID approved to category B and D, meaning that they are suitable for secondary billing” says Alan Roadway, Product Manager for ABB low voltage products. “All MID approved meters need to be correctly certified to be suitable for use in secondary billing; Faros and ABB guarantee compliance with this standard and offer installation and certification if required.”
