FAKRO is delighted to announce that it has been awarded a 2016 Red Dot Design Award for the DEF DU6 flat roof window. The international awards have been given yearly since 1955 by Design Zentrum of Essen and are considered by many to be the ‘Oscars of Industrial Design’. This year saw a record number of 5214 entries from 57 countries with 41 judges, among them designers, journalists and academics who had the task of determining the winners.
The award is further proof that FAKRO combines the highest quality in terms of both functionality and aesthetics. It has a long track record of innovation with more than 100 engineers having filed 140 patent applications. The DEF symbolises all that is best about the company’s designs, its high performance glazing unit, thermal performance and advanced automatic control having helped transform interiors of flat roof buildings throughout the world.
