Luxury vinyl tiles from Polyflor’s high design and high performance Expona flooring range were used to create a sophisticated statement floor design at Harris + Hoole coffee shop in Slough recently.
With unlimited design possibilities available from the Expona range, a combination of tiles in contrasting colours were chosen by interior and retail branding design consultancy Path Design of London to create a striking effect.
Flooring from two collections within the Expona range were selected for use in this retail space; heavy duty commercial Expona Design PUR tiles for front of house and Expona Control PUR safety flooring for back of house. Expona samples can be ordered free of charge on the Polyflor website or by calling the Polyflor Samples Direct Hotline on 0161 767 2551.
Flooring contractors Redlay Flooring installed 185m² of Expona Design flooring in the drinking and dining areas of the high street artisan coffee shop fitted out by Uplands Retail. The design incorporated a mixture of contemporary colours and textures using tiles in Light Elm 6182 wood effect and textile effect Creme Matrix 8077 and Mocca Matrix 8076.
The Expona Design LVT collection features 28 eye catching wood, stone and effects design options for use in heavy commercial environments. Its 3.0mm gauge and 0.7mm wear layer means that this range is ideal for high traffic retail spaces. Expona Design is further enhanced with PUR, Polyflor’s exclusive and robust polyurethane reinforcement which is cross linked and UV cured to provide superior cleaning benefits.
Another 25m² of flooring was installed behind the serving counter and back of house, using Expona Control in Light Elm 6506. The Control range is a HSE compliant safety floor which combines stunning design with patented technology to provide sustainable wet slip resistance for commercial environments. With a 2.5mm gauge, 0.7mm wear layer and 14 design options, aluminium oxide particles are also incorporated into Expona Control tiles to help reduce the risk of slippages in areas like inside this coffee shop where there may be spillages. Expona flooring has also been specified by consultancy Path Design in other Harris + Hoole coffee shops including Chichester, Southend, Colchester, Broadstairs and Basildon.
Tom Redpath, Director of design consultancy Path Design commented, “The Expona range allowed us to create a simple yet bold floor pattern based around three complementary colours, resulting in a striking geometric form. The flooring was also used on the vertical face of one of the counters, drawing customers into the space. We chose Expona as it allowed us to create something unique and memorable, which is core to the Harris + Hoole philosophy.”
Individual designs and patterns can be easily created by simply laying different Expona luxury vinyl tiles next to each other, or Polyflor’s in-house design team can create even more complex bespoke flooring designs using water jet cutting technology. Polyflor’s Expona flooring is 100% recyclable via the Recofloor scheme. The product is readily available from Polyflor’s national network of flooring distributor partners.
