John, pictured sat at his desk in W.Howard's Manchester office started as an apprentice with the business in 2011 and is now studying for a BA Hon's Degree in Business Administration.
John, who has undertaken a number of courses over the past five years including NVQ level 2 and 3 in Business Administration, was also a TTJ award winner in 2012 when he scooped the Career Development title.
W Howard Group now has six apprentices working across the business completing apprenticeships covering roles in mechanics, engineering, logistics and health & safety. The business is about to recruit another estimating apprentice, bringing the total to seven people following in John's footsteps.
Speaking about W.Howard's support of apprentices within the business, managing director Graham Williams said: "We are proud of employees such as John who show such a commitment to learning and development by undertaking such courses. As a business, we place a lot of value on training and we recommend investing in younger people like John, with apprenticeships."
"With the right support from training providers and the business our apprentices gain both the academic knowledge and the technical skills to become successful in a real working environment. The business is at an advantage from the ideas that the apprentice generation inject as enthusiastic newcomers to the industry, whilst the apprentices benefit by being able to develop their classroom skills amongst individuals already experienced in their roles who offer experience, guidance and support."
