Alison Brooks Architects’ scheme for this residential development is a contemporary interpretation of the surrounding 19th century housing and street patterns. The new buildings offer strong new street facing elevations with front doors. Public spaces are all well overlooked by windows, residents’ balconies and roof gardens.

Ely Court has 43 homes (18 are for social rent, 25 for sale) and is part of Phase 2 of the regeneration of South Kilburn Estate being undertaken by the London Borough of Brent. Catalyst, the housing association who built Ely Court, are also responsible for delivering and managing the remaining 208 homes in Phase 2 which were designed by Rick Mather Architects and Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands.

The site of Ely Court is bordered by mid-19th century semi-detached villas, 1960s flat blocks, a Salvation Army Centre and a former pub. Alison Brooks Architects building layout reinstates the block and street pattern that characterised London suburb before its post-war redevelopment.
