CRL Glass Rooms make the most of the outdoors on a small patch of London
Al fresco dining and a space to enjoy the great outdoors whatever the weather are not commonly found in the Mews-style properties of south east London, but have been achieved with the addition of a stylish Glass Room from CRL to one Blackheath home.
Creating a comfortable external dining area with privacy from surrounding houses and shelter from the unpredictable British weather, the Glass Room features a simple design that made installation straightforward and ensures the completed structure blends seamlessly into its new environment.
Chosen in black RAL9005 the frame matches the colour of the existing door and window frames, while the fabrics of the awning and front zip screen were supplied to colour-match with the property’s existing floor tiles.
CRL Glass Rooms feature an intelligent modular design, with an aluminium structure that requires minimal supports. Simple to construct, discrepancies in the height of the floor from left to right were easily solved, with the front legs supplied 300mm longer than standard and cut to the desired length on site. On site tolerances in the Glass Room also enabled the wall plate height to be adjusted slightly to ensure secure fixing to the centre of the brickwork.
With very little maintenance required, integrated drainage allows rainwater to run directly from the front post, while the control box for electrics is discreetly positioned while allowing for future access as required.
Maximising the outdoor space, the Glass Room was fitted with an awning and front zip screen, LED lights and a heater all of which can be operated via one multi-programme remote control, for all-year round socialising in this little corner of London’s Blackheath.
