Made by Britain has been developed as a collaboration between the Associate Parliamentary Manufacturing Group and the 1851 Royal Commission: an organisation with a long and distinguished history supporting British industry. All 650 MPs have been asked to find a product which is manufactured in their constituency today. The objective is to draw up a diverse and comprehensive picture of contemporary British industry.
Managing Director, Gerry Cowan, says “This gate has been designed to provide discreet vehicle mitigation for critical infrastructure and protect high security sites, repelling ram-raiders or other criminal threats, yet maintains the outward appearance of an equivalent non crash tested product”.
Cova's new CSG 10140 Crash Tested Sliding Cantilevered Gate has been put forward by Henry Smith, MP for Crawley, and is the latest Cova product to pass the stringent crash test criteria. The innovative new gate successfully passed the British Standard PAS 68:2010 whereby a 7.5 tonne test vehicle was driven into the gate at 64kmh (40mph), stopping it within 2m and with zero dispersal of debris.
Following his recent visit to Cova’s new premises in the Manor Royal Business District, Henry Smith said “I’m proud that Crawley is the base of Cova Security Gates, who represent the very best in British innovation and manufacturing, leading the world in their sector. It’s been my honour to nominate Cova for the Made by Britain initiative.”
